In 2020, I was finally finding time to play guitar a lot more. A number of the songs I was playing were in different tunings and I found it frustrating to regularly change the tuning of my guitar each time I wanted to play a song.
I wanted to add some guitars to my collection (don’t we all, eh?) but I didn’t just want to go buy a new guitar. Instead, I thought I’d visit all the pawn shops and see if I could find a few guitars with a story. Unfortunately, all I found were junk guitars. So, being an engineer, I thought I’d make myself a guitar.
Well, through conversation, word got out that I was building guitars. When that happened, a few co-workers and friends of friends said, “I want to buy a guitar from you.” That was never the intent but I said, OK. Just cover materials. Well, I built a few and then word started to spread…
Electric guitars are absolutely amazing instruments. Whether I’m designing a guitar for someone or on the tools creating a guitar, I’ve found what people call meditation. The world around me stops. The satisfaction after delivering one to a customer is the most positive feeling I’ve ever experienced.
